Kali Baker ’27
Hometown: North Ridgeville, OH
Communication & Sport Management Major
I am very passionate about sports and making sure athletes have the support they need on and off the field. Whether it is in the training room after practice or the classroom before, I am passionate about having athletes feel welcome and supported in every aspect of college.
For Kali Baker, a junior at Hiram College majoring in Communication and Sport Management with a minor in Sport Media, college has been a place of personal growth, leadership, and meaningful connections. Originally from North Ridgeville, Ohio, Kali chose Hiram for its welcoming atmosphere and close-knit athletic community. “I wanted a small school experience that was still in Ohio,” she says. “I felt welcome from day one, and I also knew I wanted to continue my soccer career here.”
Kali is deeply immersed in both academic and campus life. She’s a standout member of the Women’s Soccer team and will serve as the 2025-26 SAAC President. Her leadership extends into numerous roles on campus, including involvement with the IES Club, the Alpha Society, Lambda Pi Eta, and working at the Media Center. Her favorite academic experience so far was her freshman year Sports Journalism class, which ignited her passion for storytelling in athletics—a passion she’s putting into practice as a social media manager for a college-level summer soccer team in the NOSL League.

passion for sports
Beyond the classroom and field, Kali finds her calm in the quiet study rooms of the library and her fun on the pickleball courts—where she recently won a tournament, one of her favorite Hiram memories to date. She’s also a self-proclaimed LEGO builder and Disney enthusiast, having visited Disney World five times and even making a trip to Disneyland in California.
What truly drives Kali is her passion for supporting student-athletes. “Whether it is in the training room after practice or the classroom before, I am passionate about having athletes feel welcome and supported in every aspect of college,” she shares.
Looking ahead, Kali plans to move to Columbus after graduation to be closer to family and pursue a career with a professional sports team as a social media manager or broadcaster. Thanks to Hiram’s supportive community and engaged faculty, she feels prepared for what’s next. “I’ve learned that even on a small campus, big impacts can be made.”
In three words, Kali describes her Hiram experience as “adventurous, engaging, and advantageous”—a perfect summary of a student who is leaving a mark everywhere she goes.
