Because Hiram College is an undergraduate teaching institution, our full-time chemistry faculty is proud to provide close instruction and mentoring for those pursuing the chemistry major. Hiram students also have unlimited access to the department’s array of research equipment and laboratory space.

Just some of the courses you will take while pursuing a bachelor’s in chemistry include the following:

  • CHEM 22000 – Intro to Organic Chemistry

Our northeast Ohio chemistry major offers active undergraduate research programs in atmospheric chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, dendrimer chemistry, industrial chemistry, organic synthesis, and physical chemistry. Hiram has the usual range of chemical instrumentation, including AA, NMR, IR, MS, HPLC, microwave, and GC. 

It’s important to note that we also offer a dual (3+2) degree option with Case Western Reserve University or Washington University. This opportunity is great for students who are interested in earning a chemistry degree and an engineering degree, as it can prepare them for a rewarding career of their choosing.
