I am really passionate about student engagement at Hiram. Because of the large number of student athletes on campus, I think it is important to support them whenever the chance is available.
Cooper Williams chose to attend Hiram because he felt that a smaller, closer community would be the right pick for his college experience. His favorite part of his academic experience was traveling out west for his three-week course and learning about old-growth forestry in the United States.
The Hiram Plan, our 12-week and 3-week split semester, allows students to spend valuable time studying one course subject after spending a semester of balancing multiple classes. Students often take advantage of the 3-week time period to travel and truly immerse themselves in their field of study.
On campus, Cooper is a member of the Eclectic Scholars Honors Program, the men’s soccer team, and is Vice-President of Administration for Student Senate. He also works for the Athletic Department. He enjoys playing intramural sports and helping at events for basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse.
Studying at Hiram has allowed Cooper to develop his communication, networking, and planning skills, which he says have made him into a well-rounded person. “I have seen considerable growth in my personable skills when compared to my first year at Hiram. I believe I have become a leader in my own right, having a natural tendency to lead and help others around me.”
After graduating from Hiram, Cooper intends to pursue his master’s degree in accounting and continue his work in secondary education.
Cooper’s favorite spot on campus to work and hang out with friends is the Library. Outside of class, he enjoys reading, listening to music, and working out. His favorite Hiram memory is watching Tee-Grizzly perform on campus.
