WRITING CENTER ASSISTANTS

Hard at work on writing assignments for your Urgent Questions Seminar (UCS), or any other class? Need help working on your capstone project? Just interested in another set of eyes to look at your essay, lab report, or project? The Writing Assistants of the Writing Center are available both in person and online to help you with your writing.

HOW DO I MEET WITH A WRITING ASSISTANT IN-PERSON?

Students who wish to work with a Writing Assistant in-person can stop by the Writing Center Sunday-Thursday during our scheduled hours. The Writing Center can be found on the 1st Floor of the Library in the Student Academic Services Study Hub (Room 216B).

For your appointment, students should bring the following:

  • A copy of the document the student wishes to work on (preferably in Word format: .doc or .docx)
  • A copy of prompt (the assignment the professor gave to students in the class).

HOW DO I MEET WITH A WRITING ASSISTANT ONLINE?

Students who wish to work with a Writing Assistant online should email WritingCenter@hiram.edu and include the following in their email:

  • A copy of the document the student wishes to work on (preferably in Word format: .doc or .docx)
  • A copy of prompt (the assignment the professor gave to students in class).
  • Information about whether you would like to meet synchronously (via Zoom ) or asynchronously (via email).

You should receive a response in approximately 24 hours (or longer on weekends) in order to set up an appointment.
