Student Academic Support Services

Student Academic Services is committed to helping students achieve intellectual excellence and learn social responsibility, by working with them to create personally rewarding goals and providing them with the tools and resources they may need to manage themselves and the demands of college life both inside and outside the classroom.

Student Academic Services serves and assists students through their academic careers at Hiram College by advising them for their courses, providing academic support via tutoring, the Writing Center, student development courses and programs, providing academic technology support with Moodle, ePortfolios, identifying the best ways to utilize their Tech and Trek iPads for any academic need, and more.

Advising

The goal of advising at Hiram College is to support the whole student, fostering their academic, personal, and professional development over their career at Hiram. The advising office supports the College’s advising system and provides convenient drop-in or online advising support for all students.

The Emerging Scholars program provides academic, social, and cultural enrichment; courses and activities tailored to enhance academic performance; and sustained support for selected students during their first year of study.

Learning technology

Learning Technologies

To assist students in utilizing the various technologies utilized in and out of the classroom, Hiram College has a department of dedicated staff who provide resources and guidance on finding the best technology tools to help them be successful in their Hiram College career. Learning Technologies provides workshops, programs, classes, and other opportunities for students to learn and engage with various Hiram College technology resources.

Tutoring

Drop-in and 1-on-1 tutoring is available to all students at Hiram. Students who are recommended by professors are hired and trained by Hiram’s professional staff to become a peer tutor.

Writing Center

Writing Assistants are trained and experienced peer writing tutors available in the Writing Center, the ARCH, the library, and online to help you with papers at any stage in the writing process. We have tutors from a variety of majors, so don’t be afraid to ask for help with papers from any discipline.

Contact Us

Student Academic Services reports to the Associate Dean of the College. All offices are located on the main floor of the Hiram College Library in the Student Academic Services suites.
