Strengthening Ohio’s Stem Students

Hiram is one of a select number of colleges and universities to participate in the prestigious Choose Ohio First Scholarship program. Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the program’s goal is to increase the number of Ohio students pursuing majors and careers in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine).

Benefits

  • Scholarship to Hiram College – scholarship amounts vary year to year. Students do not need to pay the scholarship back. To become a COF Scholar, see more below on “Eligibility.”
  • STEM-centric community – a distinctive group of students across STEM disciplines, learning to communicate and innovate across disciplinary divides.
  • Professional development – students are provided with resume help, internships, research, and other experiential learning opportunities that help them develop the skills needed to succeed in promising career fields.
  • Research engagement – the College’s COF Scholars engage the research, medical, and entrepreneurial communities of Northeast Ohio through panel discussions, field visits, presentations, and more.
  • Scholarship engagement – participate in, support others, and learn about different scholarship engagement by attending the Celebration of Experiential Learning, Sugar Day, and other opportunities on campus.
