INTERNSHIP FUNDING Options

Through generous donors and grants, Hiram College offers students funding for unpaid or low paid internships. A list of available internship funding is below. After all internships, the award recipient’s supervisor/employer will be asked to complete an evaluation of the student’s performance. The funding application can be found within the Hiram Connect Experience Registration process on Handshake. Instructions on this process can be found below. Please contact the Career Center for help with this process at careercenter@hiram.edu.

THE GENEROUS DONOR INTERNSHIP FUND

The Generous Donor Internship Fund was created at Hiram College to support students’ experiential learning through internships. The funds will provide funding to convert many internships to fully paid experiences – empowering students to participate in experiential learning and be fairly compensated. Please contact the Career Center with questions at careercenter@hiram.edu.

THE ROBERT C. AND HELEN DIX SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Dix Scholar’s Program in journalism is funded by a generous donation from Mrs. Robert C. Dix. In honor of the Dix family commitment to journalism, the stipends will be given for internships either in journalism or in work that uses writing extensively. Decisions will be made by the selection committee. Please contact the Career Center with questions at careercenter@hiram.edu.

RANNEY WEBSTER FUND FOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

The Ranney Webster Fund was created at Hiram College to support students’ experiential learning through internships, research and other experiential learning. The funds are intended to enable students to participate in experiential learning that is not funded or inadequately funded by an external source. Each year, stipends of $500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000 will be available. Preference will be given to experiences that clearly connect a student’s academic experiences to the world of work. Decisions will be made by a faculty committee. Please contact the Career Center with questions at careercenter@hiram.edu.

BETSY KEEFER ’67 ENDOWED INTERNSHIP FUND

The annual distribution shall be used to support and encourage student internships with non-profit organizations, with preference being given to interns working with the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Monies may be dispensed for the following purposes: to support wages, housing or travel expenses, and other expenses specifically associated with said internships.
