Taylor Cook ‘22

Howland, OH
Communication and Political Science Double Major

In her Scandals and Crisis in the American Presidency course, Taylor found the perfect blend of her two academic interests: communications and political science. “We focused a lot on the Watergate scandal, which was why I loved this class so much,” Taylor says. “It really was a combination of my two majors, because of how focused in journalism studying Watergate is.”

Taylor is taking the lessons she learned in this class and others and seeing how they will apply to her future career. “I hope to work in public relations or marketing for a large corporation or for political candidates,” she says. She’s gaining an immersive education in and out of the classroom, thanks to Hiram programs like the Garfield Center for Public Leadership. “I’ve been fortunate to travel to parts of the country and meet many influential individuals,” she says. Currently, Taylor is gaining experience in Florida as a student in the Disney College Program and working as a cast member at Walt Disney World.

“Make sure you look at all your options before choosing a school,” Taylor recommends. “Hiram is great about setting you up with professors to talk to or booking overnight visits. These are the best way to get to know the culture of a school!”
