Camden Kane ‘24
Hometown: Mentor, OH
Accounting and Financial Management Major
Entrepreneurship Minor
According to Camden Kane ’24, accounting runs in the family. “I’ve always had a passion for math and numbers that I got from my father and grandfather as they are both in the accounting field themselves,” he says. Currently, Kane works for a tax firm called Lyle and Associates CPA in Chagrin Falls, OH which he secured because of his accounting and entrepreneurship classes. “Overall, being in the accounting and entrepreneurship classes has helped me become the best student version of myself. I’ve also been introduced to an entire networking system for future accountants thanks to Professor Armeni and Professor Prcela,” says Kane. “With my focus in the accounting and finance field, I feel prepared for what the future holds because the classes here at Hiram College did such a great job of getting me job-ready.”
Kane found Hiram College as a baseball recruit and felt immediately connected to the campus after his college tour. Although timid at first, Kane eventually found support and community across campus. “When I was a freshman, I was super nervous about how to approach things at a new college with people I’ve never met before. I’ve learned to be more confident in myself and take more chances such as accepting the role of Student Ambassador and reaching out about an internship,” he says. “Moving out of my comfort zone and learning proper time management skills are definitely what I’m most proud of during my time at Hiram.”
Overall, Kane credits his success to his professors. By taking advantage of the small class sizes and creating strong relationships with his professors, Kane has established a vast professional network. “I can’t thank my professors enough for everything they have helped with me thus far,” he says.
After college, Kane plans to prepare to secure a long-term job while pursuing his master’s degree in accounting.
