Art & Design and Psychology Double Major
As an art & design major, Abby has explored her artistic interests in new ways. “In Intermediate Painting, my art skills were challenged in ways I had never been pushed before. My professor encouraged me to create pieces out of my comfort zone,” she says. “I feel like, from that class, I was able to find my personal painting style and motif.”
Abby has also chosen to pursue a major in psychology, pairing her passions and professional aspirations together. “My goal is to become a clinical therapist in a hospital setting and incorporate art therapy into my practice,” Abby says. By taking courses like Abnormal Psychology, she’s gaining the foundation in mental illnesses and treatment that she’ll need for her future career.
At Hiram, Abby has paved her own unique path so that she will graduate with an experience all her own. “There is so much diversity here that there is an opportunity for every single person to find a place/group/club where they can feel comfortable and accepted,” she says. As a member of the College’s Cheer and STUNT team during its inaugural year, Abby had a one-of-a-kind experience as a student-athlete when they won their first ever competition. “As a first-year STUNT program, it was a big deal for use to even win one game against teams who had been established for years.”
