250 high school students to join college community for April 19 Hiram Health festivities.

Hiram College is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Vasque division of Red Wing Shoes. As an exciting extension to the emerging Tech and Trek program every 2017 full-time traditional college student will receive a top-end pair of hiking boots. A partial corporate gift from Red Wing Shoes plus private donor support will fund the boots.

The initiative, set to launch in fall 2017, will provide students and faculty and staff members with Apple devices to enhance their work in and out of the classroom -- while also trying to make sure people are sometimes off the grid.

Hiram College announced the largest single gift ever made to the college. The $2.1M gift from Dean Scarborough, Class of ’77, and his wife Janice Bini will launch a transformational mobile technology initiative called Tech and Trek. The program will merge classroom learning with 21st Century mobile technology by deploying iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and keyboard bundle to each of its full-time traditional college students, faculty and staff. Hiram is the first 4-year college or university in Ohio to fully adopt a college-wide Apple mobile education strategy of this kind to ensure graduates are prepared academically, socially and technologically for the world they will live and work in.
