The Hiram College women’s swimming & diving team honored its five seniors as the Terriers battled Franciscan and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) on Saturday.

Hiram (4-10) defeated Franciscan (2-4) 62-47, but fell to Washington & Jefferson (10-2) 68-35.

Freshman Jenni Heid (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) placed first in the 50-meter freestyle in 30.07 seconds. Senior Rebecca Wright (New Carlisle/Northwestern Local) was third in 31.20 seconds.

Wright also had a third place finish in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:17.43.

Junior Marian Bade (Macungie, Pa./The Perkiomen School) touched first in the 400-meter freestyle in 5:15.29 and was third in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:30.02.

The 200-meter freestyle relay tandem of junior Rachel Patten (Castalia/Margaretta), sophomoreMeredith Fitschen-Brown (East Lansing, Mich.), Heid and Wright finished first in 2:05.23.

Patten also recorded a second place finish in the 800-meter freestyle in 10:43.28 and was third in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:22.12.

Sophomore Emily Kelly (North Royalton) was second in the 400-meter freestyle, touching in 5:32.66.

Hiram will return to action on February 11, when it competes in the NCAC Championships hosted by Denison.
