The Hiram College women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Ursuline College, 94-79, in a non-conference dual meet at Alumni Memorial Pool.
Hiram (1-4) won six individual events with one multi-event winner. Freshman diver Maggie Barlow (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) captured both the one and three-meter diving events with scores of 133.12 and 111.00 respectively. Joining Barlow in the winner’s circle was sophomore Megan McBratnie (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) who won the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:53.75. Junior Jessie Gruden (Sagamore Hills/Western Reserve Acad.) hit the winning mark in the 200-meter individual medley holding a time of 2:56.78. Taking first in the 100-meter butterfly was freshmen Rachel Patten (Castalia/Margaretta) leading the pack with a time of 1:18.31. Finally, finishing with a time of 1:05.45 was sophomore Rachel Buckley (Amherst/Elyria Catholic) in the 100-meter freestyle to take top honors.
In addition, Hiram had one winning relay team. The team of Patten, sophomore Kailey Saywell (Kirtland), Buckley and McBratnie, posted a combined winning time of 2:10:97.
Both the men’s and women’s swim team will host Notre Dame (Ohio) College tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 10th) in a non-conference dual meet at Alumni Pool. The meet is part of the Cleveland City Tournament with the first event scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
