BETHANY, W.Va. — The Hiram College women’s soccer team tied Bethany College, 2-2, in overtime today (Saturday, Sept. 25) in a non-conference game in Bethany, W.Va. [Game Stats]
With the tie, the Terriers are now 4-5-1 overall and the Bison are 3-4-1 overall for the season.
Both teams would trade goals in the first period with Bethany recording the first score of the game at the 23:29 minute mark from Jaymee McDougle, making the score 1-0. Hiram later evened the score at 1-1 thanks to an unassisted goal by senior midfielder Kendra Dean (Chesterland/West Geauga), her third of the season, during the 32nd minute.
In the second half, Bethany regained the lead at the 62:12 mark with a goal by Krsitina Massie. The Terriers tied the game again late in the period on a goal by senior two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference forward Claire Conner (Aurora), her third of the season, making the score 2-2 at the end of regulation.
Neither team recorded any shots or goals in the first overtime period, keeping the game notted at 2-2. Bethany would tally the only shot taken in the second half, but could not find the back of the net as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Senior Emily Bristol (Worcester, N.Y./Worcester Central) started the game and played all 110 minutes. She allowed two goals, made five saves and is now 4-4-1 overall for the season.
Hiram will travel to Alliance on Tuesday, Sept. 28 for a non-conference game against the University of Mount Union. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
