GRANVILLE, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by Denison University, 3-0, this afternoon (Saturday, Oct. 29) in the North Coast Athletic Conference and season finale in Granville. [Game Stats]
With the loss, the Terriers end their season with a 3-13-2 overall record and 0-7-1 in the NCAC. The Big Red improve to 8-7-3 overall and 4-3-1 NCAC.
Denison scored all three of its goals in the first half and needed just 2:50 to record its first score off the foot of Maddy Regan to give the Big Red an early 1-0 lead. Just past the midway point of the period, Denison struck again, this time with a score from Tory Danis to increase the margin to 2-0. The final goal of the game came during the 39th minute when Denison’s Lauren Jay found the back of the net as the Big Red would cruised to a 3-0 victory.
In goal for Hiram, freshman Lisa Silvestro (London, Ont./St. Thomas Aquinas) started the game and played the first half allowing three goals and making six saves. She was credited with the loss and ends the season with a 1-7-2 overall record. Freshman Jocelyn Schmidt (Kent/Roosevelt) started the second half and played 9:11 giving up no goals and had no saves. Junior Kate Valaitis (Lewis Center/Olentangy) finished the game allowing no goals and making two saves.
