HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by Wilmington College, 3-0, today (Saturday, Sept. 18) in a non-conference game at the Hiram Soccer Complex. [Game Stats]
With the loss, the Terriers are now 3-4 overall and the Quakers improve to 4-1-1 overall for the season.
Wilmington scored quickly with a goal at the 3:39 minute mark off the foot of Sarah Watters as the Quakers tallied 13 shots during the period. The lone goal was the only points of the first half as Hiram trailed 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Quakers struck again with their second goal of the game during the 64th minute from Sammy Koerner, extending the margin to 2-0. Wilmington then put the game away with its final goal in the final minutes of the game at the 85:08 mark from Jennifer Packer as the Quakers went on to the 3-0 shutout.
In goal for Hiram, senior Emily Bristol (Worcester, N.Y./Worcester Central) played all 90 minutes allowing three goals and made four saves. She now has a 3-3 overall record for the season following today’s action.
Hiram will look to end its two-game losing skid tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 19) when it travels to Hamburg, N.Y. for a non-conference game against Hilbert College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
