CLEVELAND, OHIO — Three members of the Hiram College women’s soccer team have been named to the 2011 All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams for their individual efforts this season. Junior midfielder Ernestina Zappa (Brooklyn/Laurel) earned second-team honors and senior defender Kayla Durichko (Brunswick) and junior defenseman Olivia Dagg (Brampton, Ontario/Central Peel Academy) were both honorable mention picks. Zappa earns All-Conference accolades for the first time in her career after leading the team in goals scored with six on 23 shots taken for a 26.1 shot percentage. She also led the team in overall points with 15 (six goals and three assists). In addition, Zappa started all 18 games and was a perfect one-for-one in penalty kick attempts. In the conference, Zappa ranked in a tie for eighth in goals scored and eighth in overall points.
Durichko ends her four-year career with her first All-NCAC selection. As a senior, she played in all 18 games and started 15. She scored one assist for one point and recorded seven shots taken. She was part of a defensive squad that allowed 2.17 goals per game and had one shutout victory. For her career, Durichko played in 73 games with one goal scored and one assist for three points.
Dagg also earned All-NCAC honors for the first time in her career. This past season, she played in 17 games and started 11. She took 10 shots during the season, but did not record any goals or assists from her defender position. She joined Durichko as a member of a defense that had a 2.17 goals per game against average to go along with one shutout.
