The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by St. John (N.Y.) Fisher, 2-0, in a non-conference game at Charles A. Henry Field in the season finale and on senior day.
With the loss, the Terriers end the 2012 season with a 4-12-2 overall record. The Cardinals improve to 8-6-4 overall for the season.
St. John Fisher scored the only goal of the first half at the 12:20 minute mark with an unassisted goal by Krista Pilla to put the Cardinals up, 1-0, at the intermission.
In the second half, Fisher put the game away with an insurance goal during the 66th minute by Laura Burgstrom as the Cardinals outshot Hiram, 14-0, in the game and went on to post the 2-0 shutout.
In goal for Hiram, senior Kate Valaitis (Lewis Center/Olentangy) played all 90 minutes allowing the two goals and tallied seven saves. She ends the season with a 2-8-2 overall record.
