The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by Wittenberg University, 3-0, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at Charles A. Henry Field.
Neither team’s offense could get anything going for the majority of the first half, but Wittenberg (7-5-3, 3-0-1 NCAC) found an offensive fleury scoring all three of its goals in the span of 2:58 in the last five minutes of the first half. The Tigers scored their first goal at the 40:21 minute mark to grab the 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Wittenberg struck again with a goal during the 42nd minute and then took control of the game with its third goal at the 43:19 mark to lead 3-0 at the break.
Hiram (8-5-1, 1-3-1 NCAC) recorded its only shot attempt of the game in the second half, but would not find the back of the net as Wittenberg went on to claim the 3-0 shutout.
In goal for the Terriers, sophomore Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) played all 90 minutes, but suffered the loss and is now 7-5-1 overall for the season.
Hiram will travel to Meadville, Pa. for a NCAC game against Allegheny (Pa.) College on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
