HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by Allegheny (Pa.) College 3-1 tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 12) in a North Coast Athletic Conference game. [Game Stats]
With the loss the Terriers fall to 4-9-2 overall and 0-3 in NCAC play. The win for the Gators of Allegheny improved their record to 2-0-1 in NCAC play and 11-0-2 overall.
Hiram drew first blood in the first half when freshman Alaina Giesen (Medina/Buckeye) fed senior Claire Conner (Aurora) through the middle for a goal at the 24:00 minute mark, making the score 1-0 Hiram. The goal, Conner’s fifth of the season, ties her for the team lead with sophmore Stephanie Takeuchi (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury). The assist was Geisen’s second of the year.
Allegheny evened the score at 1-1 when Molly Gerbasi scored on a penalty kick at 57:10 in the second half. The Gators took the lead just over two minutes later when Georgia Frost scored with 59:22 on the clock with an assist from Kira Kliment to make the score 2-1. Frost would finish out the scoring on a goal at the 67:30 mark with an assist by Alex Gordon, making the score 3-1.
In goal for Hiram, senior Emily Bristol (Worcester, N.Y./Worcester Central) played all 90 minutes, but suffered the loss and is now 4-8-2 overall for the season. She allowed three goals and made four saves.
Hiram will next travel to Gambier for a game against the Kenyon College Ladies on Saturday, Oct. 16 in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at Kenyon College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
