The Hiram College women’s lacrosse team fell at Oberlin on Thursday evening by a 20-5 score.

The Terriers are now 3-9 on the season and 0-6 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen improve to 9-3, 3-2.

Four different players scored for Hiram, led by freshman Sierah Ray (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) who found the back of the net twice.

Sophomore Autumn Osgood (Hyde Park, Vt./Lamoille Union), sophomore Erin Smith(Youngstown/Cardnal Mooney) and freshman Alyse Gillentine (Hartville/Lake) each scored once.

Oberlin scored the first nine goals of the game to build a 9-0 lead 16 minutes into the contest.

The Terriers answered with Ray’s first goal on a free position shot with 12:55 remaining in the first half.

The Yeowomen would score the final four goals and took a 13-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, Oberlin scored three times to open a 16-1 advantage.

Ray would score again to make the score 16-2 at the 20:43 mark, before the Yeowomen came back with a goal to make the score 17-2.

Hiram would get a goal from Gillentine at the 14:47 mark of the second half. Oberlin would score three more times before Osgood and Smith closed out the scoring in the game.

Freshman Rachel Metcalf (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) made five saves in goal for the Terriers.

The Yeowomen held a 32-11 edge in shots and a 20-13 advantage in ground balls.

Hiram will play next on Saturday, when it hits the road for a non-conference matchup at Hilbert (N.Y.) that is set to begin at 2 p.m.
