The Hiram College women’s lacrosse team fell at home to Allegheny (Pa.) on Wednesday evening by a 18-4 score.

The Terriers are now 3-7 on the season and 0-4 in the NCAC, while the Gators improve to 4-6, 1-1.

Allegheny controlled play early and scored the first 13 goals of the contest to jump out to a 13-0 lead.

Sophomore Autumn Osgood (Hyde Park, Vt./Lamoille Union) got Hiram on the board with under a minute to play in the first half with a unassisted goal. The score was Osgood’s team leading 19th of the season.

In the second half, the Terriers struck first when junior JoLyn Grover (Flint, Mich./Grand Blanc) found the back of the net at the 27:10 mark.

The Gators would add two more goals to open a 15-2 lead, before freshman Sierah Ray(Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) scored on a free position shot.

Allegheny would score the next three goals, but Grover closed out the scoring in the game with her second score of the evening with 2:50 to go on a free position shot.

Freshman Rachel Metcalf (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) made five stops in goal for the Terriers.

The Gators held a 27-8 edge in shots and a 32-20 advantage in ground balls.

Hiram will play next on Friday, when it begins a three-game road trip at Ohio Wesleyan. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
