The Hiram College women’s lacrosse team fell to Oberlin College, 11-3, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at Charles A. Henry Field.
Hiram (3-11, 0-6 NCAC) got on the board first in the first half with a score by sophomore Hannah Schaefer (Kent/Roosevelt), her 21st of the season, that gave the Terriers an early 1-0 lead. Oberlin (8-3, 3-3 NCAC) then rattled off four unanswered goals with the last one coming at the 15:08 minute mark to lead, 4-1. But Hiram tallied the final two goals of the period beginning with a score by freshman Autumn Osgood (Hyde Park, Verm./Lamoille Union) with 10:42 to play and a goal by sophomore JoLyn Grover (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc), her team-leading 24th of the year, at the 3:12 mark that cut the deficit to a goal, 4-3, at the break.
In the second half, Oberlin took control scoring the only points of the period. The Yeowomen found the back of the net on seven occasions and went on to post the 11-3 victory.
Sophomore Rebecca Greenhouse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Wichester Thurston) played all 60 minutes in goal for Hiram. She faced a total of 17 shots and made six saves.
Hiram will travel to Meadville, Pa. for a NCAC game against Allegheny (Pa.) College on Wednesday, Apr. 23. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
