CLEVELAND, OHIO — Hiram College women’s basketball player and junior guard Tiffany Shields (Bedford Heights/Bedford) has been named this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week. [NCAC Women’s Basketball Release]
The Terriers posted a pair of wins this past week to improve to 10-7 overall and 3-4 in the NCAC.
Shields averaged 18.0 points per game to lead the team while shooting 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from the field. She also shot an impressive 81.8 percent (nine-of-11) from the free-throw line. Shields ended the week second on the team in rebounding with a 7.5 boards per game average. In addition, she tallied five assists, a steal and a blocked shot.
Through 17 games, Shields leads the team in scoring, and ranks ninth in the conference, at 14.9 ppg. and is shooting 37.3 percent (93-of-249) from the floor. She also leads the team in blocked shots with 13. Shields is currently third in rebounding at 4.5 rpg., is second in steals with 26 and is amongst the team leaders in assists with 20.
Hiram will go for a possible third straight victory when it travels to Pepper Pike for a non-conference game against Ursuline College on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
