The Hiram College women’s basketball team fell to Denison by a 77-54 score in its regular season finale on Wednesday night in Price Gymnasium.
The Terriers fall to 7-18 on the season and conclude NCAC play with a 3-13 mark. The Big Red improve to 13-11, 9-6.
Before the game, the Terriers honored their two seniors, Kelsey Koskinen (Madison) and Taylor Ratliff (Berea/Columbia).
Ratliff paced Hiram with a team-high 14 points.
Freshman Tori Milicevic (Lakewood) added a career-high nine points, while pulling down four rebounds.
Jordan Holmes posted a triple-double for Denison, finishing with 31 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks.
Denison opened the game by scoring the first 10 points and built its lead out to 20-5.
Five quick points from Ratliff brought Hiram to within 20-10, with just over seven minutes left in the first half.
The Rig Red would respond with a 20-9 run to close out the half and took a 40-19 lead into the break.
Denison would open the second half on a 8-1 run and used a 9-0 a little later to put the game away.
Koskinen sunk a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left. The basket gives her 45 made 3’s on the season, which is tied for second most in single season program history.
The Terriers finished 20-of-73 (27.4 percent) from the field, while the Big Red shot 30-of-62 (48.4 percent).
Denison won the rebounding battle 53-42 and also held a 50-16 edge in points in the paint.
Hiram will play again on Tuesday in the NCAC Tournament quarterfinals. The opponent and time will be announced on Saturday.
