Moving back onto campus can be an exciting time for students – but being the inaugural students moving into a brand new residence hall is an experience most can’t tell about.
However, on August 14, 2008, a handful of students got the opportunity to do just that – they were the first residents to move in to the new residence hall, which is also home to the Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurship Center. The building combines both the residential facilities and the entrepreneurship academic and co-curricular facilities, making the entrepreneurship program truly integrated into campus life.
Set up in apartment-style suites to house 102 students, the residence hall introduces a new “floor plan” to college housing at Hiram. Each suite has single and/or double rooms and a central living area, and accommodates six or eight students. In addition to the student rooms, there is a separate private apartment reserved for the Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Hiram’s Entrepreneurship program.
