WOOSTER, OHIO — The Hiram College volleyball team posted a pair of victories for the second time in as many days to end the final North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball weekend of the season today (Sunday, Oct. 16) hosted by The College of Wooster in Wooster. The Terriers defeated Allegheny (Pa.) College, 3-0, and Kenyon College, 3-0, to end the two-day event with a perfect 4-0 record.
Following today’s matches, the Terriers improve to 22-6 overall and 10-2 in the NCAC.
In the match against Allegheny, Hiram jumped out to a commanding two-set lead with victories of 25-14 and 25-16. The Terriers then made short work of the Gators in the third set, 25-10, to capture the three-set victory and defeated Allegheny for the second time this season. The Terriers defeated the Gators, 3-2, earlier this month on Oct. 4 in Meadville, Pa.
Hiram also recorded its second victory against Kenyon this season with a straight-set victory against the Ladies this afternoon. Hiram took a 1-0 match lead against Kenyon by winning the first set by the final of 25-17. In the second set, the score remained close, but it would be the Terriers who came out ahead in the end, winnng 25-22 for a 2-0 overall match lead. Hiram ended the match in the third set with a 25-15 victory to complete the 3-0 shutout.
Hiram will return to Wooster for a NCAC dual match against the Fighting Scots on Saturday, Oct. 22. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
