WOOSTER, OHIO — The Hiram College volleyball team equaled its largest win streak of the season of 11 matches with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-20) win against The College of Wooster today (Saturday, Oct. 22) in a North Coast Athletic Conference match in Wooster. [Match Statistics]
With the win, the Terriers improve to 23-6 overall and 11-2 in the NCAC. The Fighting Scots fall to 19-8 overall and 9-5 NCAC.
Leading the Hiram offense was senior All-Region outside hitter Shaina Bryan (South Euclid/Brush) with 12 kills. Senior outside hitter Megan Woodard (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) was second with 10 kills and junior outside hitter Ariel Pund (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) was third with eight kills. Senior setter Taylor Summerfield (Warren/Howland) recorded a team-best 33 set assists and Pund tallied a team-high two service aces.
Defensively, freshman Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) led Hiram with 16 digs. Bryan was second with 12 digs and Pund added 11 digs. Pund, senior All-NCAC middle hitter Andrea Kaminsky (Canton/GlenOak) and senior All-NCAC middle hitter Kristi Opfer (Garrettsville/Garfield) each had a team-high three total blocks.
Hiram will go for a season-high 12th straight victory when it hosts Denison University on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in a NCAC match at Price Gym. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
