The Hiram College volleyball team ended the River City Classic hosted by Marietta College with a pair of victories defeating Transylvania (Ky.) College, 3-1, and Ohio (W.Va.) Valley University, 3-0, in Marietta.
With the victories, the Terriers improve to 6-2 overall for the season.
In the match against Transylvania, Hiram dropped the first set, 25-20, to fall behind 1-0 in the match. But the Terriers rallied to win the next three sets, beginning with a 25-20 victory in set two and then following it up with a 25-17 win in the third set. Hiram put the match away with a 25-13 victory in the fourth set to come out on top, 3-1, in the match.
Against Ohio Valley, the Terriers won the first set, 25-18, to take the early lead. The two teams then played a competitive second set, but it was Hiram who came out on top by the final of 28-26. Hiram completed the straight-set sweep with a 25-19 win in the third set and posted the 3-0 match victory.
Hiram will travel to Berea for a non-conference dual match against Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
