OBERLIN, OHIO — The Hiram College volleyball team swept a pair of matches on the first day of the second North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball weekend this season today (Saturday, Oct. 16) hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin. The Terriers defeated host school Oberlin, 3-0, in the first match and also beat Allegheny (Pa.) College, 3-1.
Following today’s action, Hiram is now 17-9 overall and 8-1 in the NCAC.
In the match against Oberlin, the Terriers captured the first set by the score of 25-15. The score in the second half would be close between the two schools, but it would be Hiram to prevail with the final of 25-20. The Terriers completed the three-set sweep with a 25-13 victory in the final set for the 3-0 match win.
In the final match against Allegheny, Hiram jumped out a 2-0 match lead with wins of 25-17 and 25-15 in the first two sets. The Gators avoided the straight set sweep by winning the third set, 25-20. But it would be the Terriers who would take the fourth set by the score of 25-22 to go on to the 3-1 victory.
Hiram will conclude the weekend tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 17) with a single match against The College of Wooster. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
