HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College volleyball team received an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III National Tournament and will be one of 64 teams making this year’s field that was announced today (Monday, Nov. 7). [NCAA Tournament Bracket] [NCAA Tournament Information] [Regional Website]
The Terriers enter the tournament with a 26-8 overall record after making their 11th straight appearance in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament and advancing to the championship matach for the 10th consecutive time and finished as runners-up. Hiram will face Stevenson (Md.) University in the first round. The Mustangs enter the tournament with a 31-3 overall mark and finished as Capital Athletic Conference runners-up.
Hiram will making its fourth trip to the NCAA postseason in program history and first since the 2007 season. Other teams making up Hiram’s respective bracket include: Mount Union, Lebanon (Pa.) Valley, Juniata (Pa.), Cabrini (Pa.), Penn State-Altoona and Eastern (Pa.). The matchup between Hiram and Stevenson is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11 on the campus of Neumann University in Aston, Pa. at 5:30 p.m. The winner of the match will advance to play the winner of Eastern and Penn State-Altoona.
The regional final will be held Sunday, Nov. 13 and the winner of the regional will advance to the eight team finals at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri next weekend.
