CLEVELAND, OHIO Hiram College volleyball player and senior All-Region outside hitter Shaina Bryan (South Euclid/Brush) has been named this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Bryan helped lead the Terriers to a perfect 5-0 record last week, including a 4-0 record at the Hiram Invitational this past weekend. Hiram is 10-4 overall for the season and has won its last nine matches. The Terriers have not lost a set during the streak (24-0).
Individually, Bryan played in 15 sets and tallied 73 kills (4.98 kills per set) with a .399 hitting percentage. She also totaled 55 digs (3.67 digs per game) and 13 total blocks (three solo and 10 assists). Her 13 blocks led the team and her 55 digs ranked second most in the last five matches. Following the Hiram Invitational, she was named to the all-tournament team and was selected as the most valuable player.
For the season, Bryan leads the team in kills with 160 (3.40 k/s) and has a .297 hitting percentage. She is also second on the team in digs with 132 (2.81 d/s) and is third in total blocks with 25 (six solo and 19 assists). In addition, Bryan is amongst the team-leaders in service aces with 11.
Hiram will go for its 10th straight victory on Wednesday, Sept. 21 when it hosts John Carroll University in a non-conference match at Price Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
