HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College volleyball team defeated DePauw (Ind.) University, 3-0, today (Saturday, Oct. 29) in a North Coast Athletic Conference match and regular-season and home finale on Senior Day at Price Gymnasium. [Match Statistics]
With the win, the Terriers end the regular-season with a 25-7 overall record and 13-3 in the NCAC. The Tigers end their regular season with a 21-11 overall mark and 11-5 NCAC.
Hiram defeated DePauw in straight sets with the scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-21. Leading the Terrier offense was senior All-NCAC middle hitter Andrea Kaminsky (Canton/GlenOak) with a team-high 11 kills. Senior All-Region outside hitter Shaina Bryan (South Euclid/Brush) was second with 10 kills and senior outside hitter Megan Woodard (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) was third with nine kills. Senior setter Taylor Summerfield (Warren/Howland) posted a team-high 32 set assists.
Defensively, Bryan led the way with 18 digs. Freshman libero Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beumont) was second with 13 digs. Senior All-NCAC middle hitter Kristi Opfer (Garrettsville/Garfield) ended the match with a team-high eight total blocks (one solo and seven assists).
Hiram will make an 11th straight trip to the NCAC Tournament which begins on Friday, Nov. 4. The Terriers will be the number two seed in the tournament and will play a semifinal match against DePauw who will be the third-seed. Wittenberg University has clinched the top spot and will host the tournament in Springfield. The Terriers’ match against the Tigers is set for 8 p.m. at Pam Evans Smith Arena.
