HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College Terriers Women’s Volleyball team took their match against the Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets 3-1(25-17, 27-25, 22-25, 25-23) at Price Gymnasium Wednesday night. [Match Stats]
With the win the Terriers improved their record to 9-6 on the season. For Baldwin-Wallace the loss was just their sixth of the year as they fell to 11-6.
Shaina Bryan(South Euclid/ Brush) was dominant on the court. Bryan, the All-North Coast Athletic Conference outside hitter, tallied a team-high 19 kills in helping to put away the Yellow Jackets. All-NCAC middle hitter Kristi Opfer (Garretsville/ Garfield) pitched in with 14 kills. Senior Alyssa Coundourides (Brunswick/ Parma-Paduan Franciscan) helped set up the victory with 24 assists while freshman setter Kallie Rogers (Petersburg/ Springfield Local) was second on the team with 17 assists.
Defensively, All- NCAC senior Kim Sage (Bellevue) led the way with 24 digs while Bryan and Ariel Pund (Macedonia/ Walsh Jesuit) both reached double digits in digs with 16 for Bryan and 14 for Pund. Opfer notched four blocks in the match (0 solo, 4 assists) to lead the Terriers.
Hiram College will next host the NCAC Volleyball Weekend on Saturday-Sunday, September 25-26, Price Gymnasium. The Terriers first match will be against Kenyon College at noon.
