GAMBIER, OHIO — The second straight day, the Hiram College volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Volleyball Weekend today (Sunday, Sept. 25) hosted by Kenyon College in Gambier. The Terriers dropped their first match against The College of Wooster, 3-1, but won their final match against Denison University, 3-0.
With the split, Hiram is now 13-6 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC.
In the match against Wooster, Hiram took the early advantage capturing the first set, 25-23. But the Fighting Scots would end up taking the next three sets, beginning with a 25-23 victory in set two to even the match at a a set apiece. Wooster then took the lead in the third set with a final of 25-19 and it would take extra points in the fourth set for the Scots to claim the match, winning 26-24 and a 3-1 match win.
Against the Big Red, Hiram would again take the early lead by winning the first set, 25-18. The Terriers then took control by winning the second set, 25-15, to move ahead 2-0 in the overall match. Hiram completed the straight-set sweep with a victory in the third set, 25-22, to go on to the 3-0 win.
Hiram will host Oberlin College on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in a NCAC match at Price Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
