
Sophomore setter Tierra Moore (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) had a match-high 34 set assists as well as a team-tying best three blocks in win against Allegheny (Pa.).
The Hiram College volleyball team defeated Allegheny (Pa.) College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-9), in a North Coast Athletic Conference match at Price Gymnasium.
With the win, the Terriers improve to 18-5 overall and remain unbeaten in NCAC play with a 5-0 record. The Gators fall to 5-18 overall and 1-4 NCAC.
Leading the Hiram offense was sophomore right-side player/setter Jennifer Yardas (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) with 10 kills. Senior outside hitter Ariel Pund (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) was second with eight kills. Sophomore setter Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) tallied a match-high 34 assists while Pund and sophomore defensive specialist Regina Zyle(Cleveland/Beaumont) added two service aces apiece.
Defensively, junior libero Danielle Day (Newbury) recorded a game-high 18 digs and Moore was second with eight digs. Moore and freshman middle hitter Emily Mortimer(Mogadore/Field) both had three blocks to lead the Hiram defense.
Hiram will host Ohio Wesleyan University and Kalamazoo (Mich.) College in a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Price Gymnasium. It will be the final two home matches of the regular season with the first match against NCAC opponent OWU beginning at 1 p.m.
