CLEVELAND, OHIO — Hiram College junior football player and two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference linebacker Jon Hull (Buford, Ga./Mill Creek) was named this week’s NCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week and senior two-time All-NCAC men’s soccer player and forward Petar Knezevic (Akron/Ellet) was tabbed Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.
Hull helped the Terrier football team capture a 21-13 victory against Kenyon College on Saturday (Sept. 11), snapping an 11-game winless streak, and scored what would turn out to be the game-winning touchdown on a fumble recovery that he returned 79 yards for the score. He was also one of two Hiram defensive players to record 10 or more tackles with 12, including eight solo stops. After two games so far this season, Hull is currently second on the team in tackles with 22 (13 solo and nine assists). He has also recorded 1.5 tackles for a loss of three yards and has a team-leading two fumble recoveries.
The Hiram football team will host Denison University on Saturday, Sept. 18 in a NCAC game at the Charles A. Henry Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Knezevic helped the Hiram men’s soccer team to a 1-1 record this past week with the Terriers’ win coming against Transylvania (Ky.) University as part of the Centre (Ky.) College Classic. In two games, Knezevic scored three goals, including two against Transylvania, and assisted on another to finish the week with seven points. For the season, he leads the team in goals scored (five), points (14), shots (13), shot percentage (.385) and shots on goal (10).
The men’s soccer team will play its next two games at home beginning with a non-conference matchup against John Carroll University tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 14) at 7 p.m. at the Hiram Soccer Complex.
