CLEVELAND, OHIO — Hiram College cross country runners, senior Joe Hengoed (Seven Hills/Normandy) and sophomore Laila Almassri (Parma/Normandy), have been named this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference cross country runners of the week.
Both teams competed this past weekend at the Walsh/Malone University Invitational and Hengoed helped lead the Terriers to a second place team finish. Individually, Hengoed placed 12th overall of 38 runners with a time of 17:13.87.
The Hiram women placed fourth overall as a team while Almassri recorded the fastest individual time for the Terriers of 23:03.46 and placed 12th overall of 35 runners.
The Hiram cross country teams will compete at the NCAC Championships this Saturday, Oct. 29. The championships will be hosted by Wittenberg University in Springfield and the first race of the day is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
