What better way to start off a beautiful sunny day than with an early morning breakfast and a hike in the woods? Apparently, a couple dozen attendees of Hiram’s 2010 Alumni Weekend thought that sounded pretty good, too, and congregated at the James H. Barrow Biological Field Station for a delicious and healthy catered breakfast by chef Anne Haynam ’88, who provided homemade yogurts, granola, breads, pastries, and of course the requisite coffee and tea. We ate in the observation building – with a pair of trumpeter swans and their four one- week-old signets only a few feet away.
After breakfast, Professor Matt Hils, Matt Sorrick and Laura Collins accompanied waves of hikers through the woods. For many of us, it had been years (sometimes lots of years) sense we had been in these woods, and it was a lovely and educational experience – a nice start to a day full of Alumni Weekend activities.
