The Hiram College swimming and diving teams hosted Notre Dame College today in a non-conference dual meet at the Alumni Memorial Pool as part of the Cleveland City Tournament. The Terrier women were defeated by the Falcons, 173-121, and the men lost, 179-89.
Leading the women was sophomore Carly Daniels (Mesa, Ariz./Dobson) who took the 200-meter freestyle and the 100-meter free with times of 2:21.96 and 1:04.62 respectively. Freshmen Lexi Cortes (Cleveland/Lutheran West) controlled the one-meter and three-meter dives with scores of 156.90 and 147.97 respectively. Also with a win for the women was freshman Rachel Patten (Castalia/Margaretta), taking the 400-meter free with a time of 4:59.23.
The men were led by senior James DeGroff (Cuyahoga Falls) with wins in the 50 and 100-meter free. He led the field with times of 25.70 in the 50-free and 56.55 in the 100-free.
The Hiram men will face-off against Defiance College and the women will compete in a tri-match against Defiance and Chatham (Pa.) College on Friday, Nov. 16th at Alumni Pool. The first event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
