The Hiram College swimming and diving teams lost to the University of Mount Union in a non-conference dual meet at Alumni Memorial Pool. The Terrier women were defeated by the Purple Raiders, 168-120, and the men lost 166-82.
Following today’s meet, both teams fall to 0-2 overall in dual meet competition.
Posting event victories for the Hiram women were sophomore Rachel Buckley (Amherst/Elyria Catholic) in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:05.33 and freshman diverLexi Cortes (Cleveland/Lutheran West) captured both the one-meter and three-meter dives with point totals of 173.55 and 154.35 respectively.
The Terrier men had one event winner in senior James DeGroff (Cuyahoga Falls) who won the 50-meter free with a mark of 25.70 seconds.
The Hiram swimming and diving teams will next compete in the Cleveland City Tour next Friday-Saturday, Nov. 2-3 hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin. The first event on Friday, is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
