HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College swimming and diving teams lost to Wittenberg University today (Saturday, Jan. 14) in a North Coast Athletic Conference dual meet at Alumni Memorial Pool. The Terrier women were defeated, 147-84, and the men lost, 147-49. [Meet Results]
Following today’s outcome, the women are now 4-6 overall in dual meet competition and 0-2 in the NCAC. The men are now 2-6 overall and 0-2 NCAC.
Individually, freshman Rachel Buckley (Amherst/Elyria Catholic) and senior Caitlin McCurley (Apple Valley/Granite Hills) posted the top overall finishes. Buckley finished second in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 30.15 seconds and McCurley came in second in the 400-meter free in a time of 5:06.44. McCurley also recorded a third-place showing in the 800-meter free with a mark of 10:33.60. Senior diver Sydney Kispert-Bostick (Detroit, Mich./Frazer) placed second in the one-meter with 134.45 points.
For the men, sophomore Job Fields (Chillicothe) placed second in the 800-meter free in a time of 9:55.73. He also touched the wall in third place in the 200-meter backstroke posting a time of 2:34.10. Fellow sophomore Ryan Astalos (Bainbridge/Kenston) came in third in the 50-meter free with a time of 26.81 seconds and third in the 200-meter butterfly with a mark of 2:42.08 to round out the top performers for the men.
The Hiram swim teams will host Baldwin-Wallace College in a non-conference dual meet on Friday, Jan. 20 at Alumni Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
