UNIVERSITY CIRCLE, OHIO — The Hiram College swimming and diving teams were defeated by John Carroll University today (Saturday, Jan. 22) in a non-conference dual meet in University Circle. The men lost to the Blue Streaks, 138-84, and the women lost, 137-76. [Meet Results]
Following today’s competition, the men fall to 3-8 overall and the women are now 4-9 overall.
The men won two individual events, both by senior Santiago Morales (Mexico City, Mexico/Colegio Bilboa). Santiago recorded the top overall time in the 100-yard butterfly at 56.69 seconds and also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.62. The men also had a winning relay team in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.48. Team members included: Santiago, senior Travis Subda (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins), senior Colin Kelly (Perrysburg) and freshman Ryan Astalos (Bainbridge).
On the women’s side, junior Sydney Kispert-Bostick (Frazer, Mich./Frazer) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with 131.10 points and 128.65 points respectively.
The Hiram swim teams will host Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College next Saturday, Jan. 29 in the home and regular-season finale at Alumni Memorial Pool. It will also be senior day with the first event scheduled for 1 p.m.
