BEREA, OHIO — The Hiram College swimming and diving teams were defeated by non-conference opponent Baldwin-Wallace College and North Coast Athletic Conference foe Allegheny (Pa.) College tonight (Friday, Jan. 21) as part of a tri-meet hosted by B-W in Berea. [Meet Results]
Following tonight’s competition, the men fall to 3-7 overall in dual meet competition and 0-3 in the NCAC. The women drop to 4-8 overall and 0-3 NCAC.
The men lost to the Yellow Jackets by the final score of 88-52 and lost to the Gators with a score of 95-45.
Individual for the men, the Terriers had two event winners in seniors Zach Wegman (Knoxville, Tenn./Bereon) and Santiago Morales (Mexico City, Mexico/Colegio Bilboa). Wegman claimed top honors in the 50-yard backstroke with a mark of 27.69 seconds and Santiago touched the wall first in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 25.83 seconds.
The women fell to B-W by the final score of 98-42 and lost 109-31 to Allegheny.
The Hiram women had one individual event winner with senior Ashlynn Krohn (Wauseon) posting a winning time in the 50-yard butterfly at 29.00 seconds.
The Hiram swim teams will compete again tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 22) when the Terriers travel to University Heights for a non-conference dual meet against John Carroll University. The first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
