The James H. Barrow Biological Field Station (FS) is once again fortunate to have funding to offer 20-23 paid internship or employment opportunities to continuing students at Hiram College. Contact Matt Hils (firstname.lastname@example.org; 330-569-5265) if you want or need any more information, or if you as a student are interested in proposing an independent project.
Please note that all Field Station student interns and employees will contribute to general duties for maintenance and function of the Field Station and grounds in summer 2011. Participation in special projects is mandatory for everyone who receives funding through the field station.
All students involved with animal-related internships at the Field Station will participate in the daily husbandry and routines involving the captive animal collection used for education.
Interns are expected to work a minimum of 36 hours per week for the entire season with unpaid time off allowed for illness, personal or family vacations, and other events provided prior notice is given. Internships include a stipend of $360 per week and housing in a Hiram College residence hall.
In order to apply, a student must meet the following basic requirements:
- GPA of 2.50 or higher
- Good academic standing at Hiram College
- Continuation at Hiram College through the 2011-12 academic year
Applications must include a formal cover letter, the one-page application form, and a copy of your most current transcript.
For more information about the requirements and details about individual internship opportunities, please view the application.
The deadline for applications is March 4, 2011. Final decisions about positions will occur shortly after spring break.
