Senior Taylor Ratliff (Berea/Columbia) scored a career-high 21 points off the bench to lead the Hiram College women’s basketball team in a 71-57 loss to Oberlin on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers drop to 4-11 on the season and 0-6 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen improve to 7-7, 3-2.

Ratliff finished 9-of-17 from the field and also pulled down three rebounds and had three steals.

Sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) added 14 points and eight rebounds for Hiram and sophomore Brianne Goodrich (Chesterland/West Geauga) finished with eight points.

Lindsey Bernhardt led Oberlin with a game-high 27 points, including 20 in the first half.

The Yeowomen opened the games strong and jumped out to leads of 12-2 and 24-6.

But Hiram would use an 8-2 run to chip away at the lead and cut the deficit to 26-14.

The Yeowomen took a 39-28 advantage into the break.

Early in the second half, the Yeowomen used a 7-0 run to expand their lead to 51-32 with 14:07 left to play. Hiram would be able to get no closer than 14 points the rest of the game.

The Terriers finished the game 22-of-58 (37.9 percent) from the field, while Oberlin was 26-of-62 (41.9 percent).

The Yeowomen won the rebounding battle 47-31, but Hiram saw its bench outscore Oberlin’s 34-9.

Hiram will return to action on Wednesday, when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
