The Hiram College women’s swimming & diving team fell to Mount Union by a 145-64 score in its home opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers fall to 0-1, while the Purple Raiders improve to 2-0.

Junior Rachel Patten (Castalia/Margaretta) was second in the 800 free with a time of 10:31.46.

Senior Carly Daniels (Mesa, Ariz./Dobson) was second in the 50 free in 30.90 and junior Megan McBratnie (Berkley, Mich) was second in the 1-meter diving, with a score of 99.45

The 400 free relay team of senior Emily Anderson (Morgantown, W. Va./University), senior Kailey Saywell (Kirtland), junior Alaina Seguin (Canton/Canton South) and freshman Alyssa Fults(Lakes/Perry) finished first in 5:59.12.

Freshman Jenni Heid (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:25.04 and Saywell was second in 1:41.72.

Junior Marian Bade (Macungie, Pa./The Perkiomen School) was third in the 100 back, touching in 1:23.10.

Hiram will return to action on Friday, with a road meet at Oberlin at 6 p.m.
