Senior Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) recorded a season-high 51 assists to lead the Hiram College volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-16, 25-27, 25-16 victory at Heidelberg on Tuesday evening.

The Terriers have now won seven straight and improve to 13-1 on the season. The Student Princes drop to 7-10.

Moore’s 51 assists topped her previous season best of 43.

Junior Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) led Hiram with 17 kills and senior Jennifer Yardas(Moon Township, Pa./Moon) added 13.

Senior Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) recorded a match-high 23 digs and sophomore Laura Kelly (Massillon/Jackson) chipped in with a season-high 20.

Sarah Parker led Heidelberg with 20 kills and Jubilee Hasse finished with 20 digs.

The Terriers jumped out to a early 6-5 lead in the opening set, before the Student Princes reeled off four straight points to jump in front 9-6.

Hiram would hang around and a kill by Brewer would tie the score at 20-20.

HC would go on to win four of the next five points to take the first set 25-21.

A kill by Moore allowed the Terriers to take a early 4-1 lead in the second set.

Heidelberg would respond with a 5-0 run to jump back in front 6-4.

But Hiram would use 6-1 and 7-2 runs to take control and win the set 25-16.

The third set was tight throughout and featured 10 ties. Heidelberg would win three of the final four points for a 27-25 win.

A kill from Brewer allowed the Terriers to jump in front 13-12 in the fourth set.

The Student Princes would win the next point to tie the score at 13-13. But it was all Hiram from there, as the Terriers finished the match on a 12-3 run, capped off by two kills from sophomoreMarissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan), to clinch the set and the match.

Hiram will return to action on Saturday, when it hosts NCAC foe Denison at 1:00 p.m. and Alma (Mich.) at 5:00 p.m.
