Hiram College

Dear Hiram College students:

I want to take this time to personally welcome you to the Hiram College community if you are new. And, if you are a returning student, welcome back! As the Dean, I am confident that the learning experience you have during your time on the hill will be transformative.

We have more than 15,400 living alums across the globe who serve as models of the  impact of Hiram’s learning environment, one that happens inside the classroom and far beyond. Your academic experience will be a powerful combination of what you learn inside and outside of class and how ideas introduced in one place will help you understand concepts in another. At Hiram, you will put those ideas to work immediately: in your job, on your athletic team, in a student organization, or through the required internship, study way trip, and/or research project.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College strives to create meaningful educational experiences for students whether in the traditional school, in our graduate program, or among those in the Center for Adult Studies. The office creates the academic vision, implements academic priorities, and works closely with the associate deans, the five school directors, the registrar, and the library staff to provide courses, processes, and policies that allow the students’ Hiram experience to be positive and affirming. Additionally, the Dean’s office focuses especially on academic excellence, the assessment of student learning, and the development of faculty for teaching, mentoring, and research.

I look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces around campus this fall. Please say hello and express your compliments or suggestions as you see me on campus.
