The Hiram College men’s swimming & diving team fell to NCAC foe Wittenberg 200-59 on Sunday afternoon.

The Terriers fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-3 in NCAC play, while the Tigers improve to 5-1, 4-0.

Junior Danny Essel (Euclid) led Hiram with a first place finish in the 200-yard IM in 2:25.70. Freshman Rylan Zeis (Newark/Granville) finished second in the event with a time of 2:27.87.

The 200-yard freestyle relay tandem of junior Christian Kelly (Walpole, Mass.), sophomoreJordan Canevari (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edwards), freshman John Kost (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) and freshman Kyle Sarver (Parma/Parma Senior) touched first in 1:44.62.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Essel, Kost, Sarver and Zeis finished third with a time of 1:56.91.

Kost finished third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.97 and Canevari was fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle in 19:27.29.

Canevari also posted a third place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, touching in 2:33.78. Kelly was right behind in fourth with a time of 2:43.69.

Hiram will compete again on January 23, when it travels to take on John Carroll in a road meet that begins at 6 p.m.
